Going green

So lately (especially since returning from Australia) I have been thinking more and more about the way we live - how wasteful we are as a society, how badly we eat, how poorly we treat this planet that we were given to live in. I have read some books like this one and other people's blogs and decided to make some changes in our home. I try to remember to use my reusable grocery bags (and nearly always remember...), I try to limit the amount of plastic bags I take at the grocery store for the produce, I buy organic when it is a practical option (not when it costs 4x that of the regular product...) and I am giving as much handmade items as gifts as possible. So today I bought the organic milk we have been drinking at Sam's Club..... does that make it a good thing or not? If Walmart sells organic produce who are we helping??? Hmmmmm a point to ponder....

On a much less serious note here is a peek at a gift I made for my sister

A cute little pouch with a set of 4 cards. The stamps are by Sassafrass Lass and the sentiments are SU. I had so much fun making this. I am thinking I could make a Christmas version with Christmas cards and maybe a Christmas cd and some chocolate :o) I know that would make ME happy!

Tomorrow I am supposed to go on a field trip with my older DD class but my younger DD has not been feeling well all day and looks like she is coming down with something. Am I a bad mother if I hope that she is sick so I can stay home and sew all day?????

These cards are adorable, love the pouch. Every little bit helps with the environment. I use canvas bags for shopping, but then I don't buy that much at any one time.

I love the cards, and the pouch! The fabric is just adorable!! And I hear you on the green part...over here in Germany EVERYTHING is recycled. It's amazing how little trash we have here!!

Have a wonderful day...and no it doesn't make you a bad mother...just a normal mother! :-)
